Small Business Success Strategies At our annual open house and monthly meeting, Mr. Elsberry, Jr., President & CEO of the Better Business Bureau servicing Metro Atlanta, Athens and Northeast Georgia is our featured presenter. Mr. Elsberry will provide tips for small business owners, common mistakes made by small business owners, statistics for small businesses, keys to success for small businesses, securing credit/keeping good credit, scams that target small businesses and small business resources.
AUP Atlanta Welcomes WiNUP to Atlanta The Women's International Network of Utility Professionals (WiNUP) 2010 International Conference will be held in Atlanta on October 9-13 at the Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center. The theme for the 2010 Conference: "City Lights, Southern Nights, Historical Sites.” Register and attending the conference entitles you to one (1) year membership into WiNUP. Let's show our support for our leaders at the conference.
AUP Atlanta was helpful in securing Greg Ford, President and CEO of Georgia System Operations (GSOC) as a conference speaker. His presentation titled “Emerging Issues of the Smart Grid” focuses on issues in the utility industry including smart meter and smart grid technologies as well as the associated issues for stakeholders—regulators, customers, and utilities. He also plans to discuss the roles of women in the industry. Mr. Ford will also be a participant on the ‘Green’ Panel ‘.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Higgins, Executive Vice President and CFO, Oglethorpe Power Company (OPC) will be the closing speaker for the WiNUP 2010 Conference with “No Easy Choices” where she plans to explore the pros and cons of future generation and the alternatives.
Teresa Wietzikoski of Diversified Wealth Management, LLC and speaker at an AUP 2009 meeting is also a presenter. The objective of Mrs. Wietzikoski’s presentation is to equip each attendee with the basic tools needed to establish a financial plan based on solid financial planning principals.

AUP's Community Service The month of September is AUP's Community Service Project titled "Project Suds". The purpose of this drive is to collect and prepare hygiene packages to include travel size soap, shampoo, conditioner, brushes/combs, lotion, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant, etc. for the Covenant House. Please bring your donations to the September 21st luncheon meeting and/or call Marica Mims at (770) 270-7466 or Pat Reeves at (770) 618-5115 to arrange for a pickup. |
